I have a new respect for the the ‘jean’. It can hold you in, pick you up and all the while looking darn good. Only recently a fan of Topshops range (I was a straight levi’sand GAP girl for most of it) i have come in particualr to love their coloured collection – indigo, burgundy and dark…. I LOVE them all and the endless possibilities they will bring…
happy sunday and happy new year!!!
As Winter swiftly approaches, I am gleefully heading to the back of my closet where I pull out my favourite winter coats (this years new purchase is the Oasis Wrap coat in chocolate) and jackets. The perfect excuse to recreate myself and where the most comfortable and snuggly outfits I own.
Also making good use of this excuse are some of my fav celebs below. Rihanna , Leona and Rochelle definitely have that winter swag going on (I am particularly fond of Leona’s neutral look) -
Leona’s coat is from Topshop and Rochelle’s is from Zara, happy shopping!!!

I am absolutely in love with floral prints this season and more importantly being able to clash prints!! If your brave then just add a power piece like Taraji or Rochelle above, this is defo a trend that I intend to take to the beach, I just hope the flower friendly bee’s/wasps stay the heck away from my ass!
If you are looking for cheap buys, Primark and New look has to be firm fav’s but i have also discovered the joys of online shopping at ASOS, Misguided and ‘Saturday’ girl group haunt OwntheRunway.com have the best stuff!!
I have of course added pics of some inspiring celebs who are working my fave trend right now, i.e. Kerri, Ashanti and Rachel below.

I can honestly say that I have let the ‘itis‘ kick in to another level! I haven’t stopped sewing or pattern cutting but for some strange reason I haven’t been able to put finger to keyboard outside of my 9- 5. I hang my head in shame…
On the up side, the sun is out and the evenings are longer! I will therefore have limited excuse! Loads to share. At the moment I’m working on a crop top in the summer bright block colours! I’m hoping to wear this with some cute cut off shorts and wedges when I go on holiday nxt month! Yeah!
Wot do u think??

So i have made my first technical skirt using using a pattern that I have created. It took me long enough, 2moro I start semester two! (Dresses) Yaay!
In all honesty, I just haven’t had the time and nearly gave up completely. It is a very time consuming and long process when you are not working over a special desk with perfect lighting and lots of space (my bedroom floor on top of a firmish rug under that one bedroom light aint cutting it)
Ps. On the plus side my sketches are coming through a lot stronger and a lot quicker- no more templates! Whoopeee!
Here it is as always, Topshops aw2010 looks, like I have said- invest in a camel and fur coat and you are set for the winter!
Ooh and slacks ( I have nicked a pair from my mum and invested in. a Zara pair)! They are my new work fav and they are soo comfy, you will not regret it!!!!
Xx

Here is Topshops autumn winter palette- it is unsurprisingly……… Camel.
This is a autumn standard that rarely changes in my view and that is really good for any fashionista’s on a budget.
A simple camel coat or a basic trench coat can take you through autumn into winter and can be dressed up or worn casual. I have two trenches in this colour that I couldn’t live without for work and play ( Uniqlo and Zara do really fantastic makes at a reasonable price).
Also, I love camel coats with a wool and cashmere mix. My last one lasted many years and I was sad to see it go. This seasons shape is more slouchy and comfortable and I will definitely be on the look out for a good buy or even a vintage!
Ps. I will update you if I find a really good deal!

The jacket of the season is by far the lambskin Aviator! If you don’t have one yet, please invest and I promise you won’t be sorry. I have an olds season one from Zara that is still a timeless classic but I definateley want to invest in this seasons shape which is less bomber and more structured!
This season, burberry and Chloe are my catwalk front runners but they are not in the price range! I have done some pre-scouting and can tell you the best ones I have seen are the ASOS, Zara (TRF), topshop, H+M and M+S (not out yet, but personal fav) and these range from about £80- £200. Cha-ching (bargain really)

Hey all!
Here is a quick update on the progress of my sketching. I think I’m improving. I don’t use templates anymore and I’m starting to experiment with back poses (a personal fear)
This theme was around all the arabian influences that have been used on lately in a very subtle way! I think its a trend that that occurs every year! Like camel and tweed; you ca never have too much of some good things!
My term has ended and I have to do research on an inspirational illustrator! Research, here I come!!!
Ps. I’m also having a go at designing, pattern cutting and making a couple of skirts in full size! Hence the hiatus! Very busy schedule of late but something new will be up soon – I start my nxt term in mid September!

With term 1 over, I have realised that I have developed some invaluable skills and definitely look at inspiration in a different way!
I am really excited about the pattern cutting course that I am currently enrolled on. This week I was asked to prepare a presentation on a designer from the 1930′s – of course I was completely baffled about this particular era and had to jump on the research double smart!
It really challenged me though, and I have been able to able to see where Hollywood glamour really stemmed from. The alluring looks that J.Lo, Angelina and Halle Berry have been able to pull off are not so original and the like of Greta Garbo got there first and smashed it!! Dramatic draping is an art that I am only beginning to understand, I can’t wait to work on the stand.
I love Vionnet’s work as she was a fan of draping on the stand and created garments that fit the natural curve of the body and hung amazingly!
Today, I salute Vionnet – thank you for making women truly glamorous!!!
Here are pics of the old and the new, which do you prefer?
Ps and some extra pics of Zoe Saldana in vionnet 2010 fall (amazing!) She does need a couple of pounds on her though!
