Look of the week

The LWD.

The little white dress is in (again) as with all things we knew this would be doing the rounds. What would be more appropriate for a spring date or church event (Just in time for easter).

Such fun and innocence – even if you know otherwise.

Anyway here’s a few doing the trend this season and making it burn bright.

Entering the tropics

Even if you can’t go on holiday this year you can certainly dress like your about to hit the beach. Apparently around this time every year designers debut ‘resort’ collections – especially for those of who can afford to jet off somewhere nice and avoid the spring chill (must be nice)

For the rest of us who are scraping together for a summer holiday, it gives the high street a chance to put together their best offerings. And of those I have put listed some main contenders, including Primark! Others to watch out for (but not listed) in this trend are almost certainly ASOS, Next and H+M who will have a few decent pieces (expect everyone else to also have the best pieces)

I like bold prints and colours so its not a problem for me. How about you? If your a bit shy try doing the trend with just one statement piece like a scarf, shorts or over sized men shirt for a twist?

Quirky shades…

Summer brings out all the exhibitionist’s, Myself included! And one way to stand out is with a unique pair of shades! I have also loved a classic pair of shades but this season is about loud and proud as seen on Marc Jacobs and Karen Walker SS 2012.

Here’s some more inspiration for you…

Enjoy.

Shiny new shoes….

From Rita Ora and Angela Simmons in Maison mirror sneakers, Alexa Chung in Celine resort heels and Marni for H+M sandals. Everyone seems to be acknowledging metallics for the summer. I guess we can get a bit magpie-ish and the reflective colours go great with summer skin and make us feel more Grecian; Olympian almost?

With 2012 olympics around the corner I wonder if all the sporty themes on the catwalk are a hint to this?

I have also sneakily snuck in few from this months Elle.

As a sneaker I think its a bit to brash for me but if you must keep up with the Jones’ I’m sure Topshop or River Island will almost certainly be inspired in the near future…

Look of the Week

Wedge heel sneakers.

So I have taken note of these walking down the catwalk but have only really fallen in love with the white Isabel Marant pair as seen on Beyonce, Tracey Ellis Ross and Alicia keys above and Alex below. At £400+ a pop, it isn’t going to happen!

Although Marc Jacobs and others have also been doing the trend, I only really like the Marant pair because they can actually pass as plain hightops and are not as obvious as heels.

This “camouflage heel” attempt has not been translated that well on the high street as seen in Ash, Topshop and Nike below but hey – you can’t have it all!!

Enjoy.

Look of the week

2012 floral’s (above is Topshop fav- Mary Katrantzou)

Clashing, Big, Bold and Bright. Elle says “there’s nothing Ditzy about springs floral arrangements”. Do we agree? How many of us will actually try to pull this off without the fear of looking either try hard or frumpy or worse worry that a bee might think ur lunch?

Its definitely not one for the faint hearted but it is all the high street stores already so proceed with caution.

I personally like a loud print- H+M and Zara are my favourites for this particular trend. Here are some modern interpretations of this years tribute from Beyonce, Lala and Tulisa in an inspiring swimsuit from Ted Baker (I like).

look of the week!

Minty fresh colours have been seen on every celebrity worth their salt recently; including Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie, Rihanna, Solange (girl crush) and Cassie who make the colour a stand out piece or let shine in all its glory.

It has also been seen making headlines on the catwalk and is a very spring appropriate colour that fits in perfectly with this seasons ice cream pastel palettes.

I think its a particularly stunning shade against dark skin but compliments all very well!

Ps. For me, the pic of Ashanti is how not to wear this trend. Its the same ALC blazer that Kimmy is wearing but it simply doesn’t shine in the same light. (It pains because I luv my girl but there is too much going on and then nude shoes?!?)
